This is a 4-week course of unmounted study to prepare students for the responsibilities of owning a horse. The course will include written and reading assignments.

In this course students will learn what is involved in owning a horse including:

Requirements for safe accommodations for horses

How to select a horse

How to choose, care for, and store tack and equipment

How to plan a feeding program

Routine veterinary care and first aid

Routine farrier care

How to safely trailer a horse

The course will meet every Wednesday from 6-8 pm for four weeks beginning on the first Wednesday of every month

Textbook:  “A Horse Of Your Own” by M.A. Stoneridge

Tuition: $350 (due at or before the first class session)
